Sitges is one of the most popular gay beach destinations in Europe. It's a small beach town, situated about 30km south of Barcelona.
Sitges has got a vibrant LGBTQ nightlife, with many gay bars, terraces, restaurants and boutique shops. Where in most places the gay beach is situated far away, in Sitges the main gay beach is right on the main boulevard in the town center.
Two more gay clothing optional beaches are located a bit more out of town.
Gay nightlife
The bars on Plaça de la Indústria, like Parrots Pub get busy from end of afternoon. It is very relaxing and entertaining place to see all the guys walk by from the beach.
The terraces usually remain quite full until dinner time, which is Spanish time so don't go anywhere before at least 8. There are many gay and gay-owned restaurants in Sitges. Make sure to make reservations the day before, as many will be fully booked. We don't keep a list of restaurants on this site, as they change all the time, but if you make an evening walk it is pretty clear which places are the popular ones (with small queues outside).
After dinner the street bars get going. The inside gay places get busy at the late Spanish hours at night.
There are two main gay beaches in Sitges. One is La Platja de la Bossa Rodona in front of Hotel Calipolis. From your hotel room you can spot the cute guys at the beach. The beach is in the middle of the center but very small. The other beach is Playa del Muerto a gay clothing optional beach with heavy cruising area. See our beaches pages for all details on how to get there.
Sitges is a very tolerant and open minded beach town. There are some men only gay guesthouses and many of the larger hotels operate with a gay staff at the reception desk.
Pick a hotel in or near the town center. When you take one of the resorts further away with all families, you are missing all the fun.
