Songkran is a Thai traditional New Year and lasts for 3 days. It is also known as the "Water Festival" as people believe that water will wash away bad luck. With that it mind, it is not hard to understand why the streets outside Silom, where all the gay bars are, are packed with half dressed and fairly wet gay guys.
This is also the week the popular G Circuit festival takes place.
Where to stay during Songkran
Bangkok is really hectic and fun during Songkran, but it's also nice to get away from it and relax at the pool of the hotel for a couple of hours. So make sure to reserve a nice one. Hotel recommendations and hotel map
